It was a pleasant day when chibi-Lorelei was skipping down the busy streets of Mitsurei with not a care in the world. Never mind that many terrible things had happened…Falan had told her that she could not accompany him to work that day, and she dearly wanted to see Korina. One of her blue ribbons had relinquished it’s hold on her hair, so now one side of her head was still held neatly in a braid while the other flowed loosely around her face. Oh, and she couldn’t find her tennis shoes this morning, so she was wearing the shiny black shoes she had worn to Korina’s single release party which Falan had said was ‘formal’ and had made her wear an itchy dress and pull her hair up into a mess of curls and ribbons and wouldn’t the young tomboy run outside and pick all the magnolia flowers from the bushes outside the studio and eat all the yummy little cakes and biscuits. Now those shiny black shoes were pinching her toes on one side, and rubbing painfully against her heel on the other, but chibi-Lorelei didn’t pay any of it any mind.
A cute blue and white bakery caught her eye; well, not really the bakery, but the scrumptious looking cream puffs in the window. As she recalled, Falan had given her allowance to her earlier that day…chibi-Lorelei pulled the bill from her purse and studied it. That should be enough to get some cream puffs.
And so chibi-Lorelei skipped inside the bakery. She marched straight up to the counter as the chibi-store clerk walked up. “Hello! What can I get you?”
Chibi-Lorelei looked up with a big grin. “I want as many cream puffs as this will buy,” she demanded, slapping the twenty-dollar bill onto the counter.
Two minutes later, chibi-Lorelei walked out of the bakery with five-dozen cream puffs.
Chibi-Lorelei found a bench and sat down, opening the first box and pulling out a light and fluffy pastry. He bit in, savoring the flakey pastry shell and the rich and creamy filling.
But the filling really was rich ..and quite, well, filling. By the fourth pastry, chibi-Lorelei could eat no more.
Chibi-Lorelei looked at the four-and-a-half boxes of cream puff that sat innocently beside her on the bench.
“Oh, no!” chibi-Lorelei wailed. “What am I going to do with all these cream puffs?”
